Reproduction sun visor base for the MKII MR2. After 30+ years, the original bases tend to crack, making the sun visor useless. The only way to fix this has been to purchase a new sun visor, but they have been discontinued by Toyota.

Michael Avera (PrintAFix on etsy) reproduced the mount in CAD, making improvements on the original design to hopefully prevent them from breaking again. We are using Michael's design under license and 3D printing the base using Acrylonitrile-Styrene-Acrylate (ASA - a successor polymer to ABS, the material used for the OEM base. ASA has similar properties with the added benefit of being UV stable.)

Update 5/7/21 - We have found a filament that almost perfectly matches the grey of the Rev2+ headliners and are happy to offer that as an option. Grey mounts are printed using Polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) and thus cannot be smoothed using acetone. They can be sanded if a more finished appearance is desired.

As a 3D print, these are subject to minor imperfections and ridges in the surface. If a smoother finish is desired, the material can be treated with Acetone. Additionally, the mount has to be printed in a vertical orientation using supports which are then broken off - this can leave a rough edge that can be sanded or smoothed with acetone.
