Don't use an old stick to hold the trunk lid open, install this gas charged helper to keep your lid up and out of the way. Under the right circumstances, it even opens the lid for you!

Club MR2 is proud to offer this gas charged strut arrangement to hold the trunk lid of your MKI open. Pop the lock, lift the lid about 4 inches and watch it motor all the way up under its own power. Attaches using an existing bolt and a supplied ball stud. Requires drilling out an existing hole (bit included) for upper ball mount.

Kit comes with the gas strut, lower bracket, upper ball mount with lock nut and proper size drill bit for upper mount hole.

Mounting hardware: .082" Zinc plated Steel with integral ball stud.

Great kit. I no longer have to carry a block of wood in the trunk to hold up the lid while loading or unloading groceries. Installation was straight forward. I had to replace the bolt that held the lower strut mount (the stock one has a captured flat washer that interfered with the strut ball mount) with one I had in my shop. Now, when I release the rear trunk lid, it goes up by itself. Cool.
