MKI MR2 Engine Lid Prop

This has got to be one of the best simple mods available for the MR2. The strut works perfectly for this application. The only thing I'm not sure about is the brackets, they must just be generic brackets because they don't seem to be made for this application. Overall, 5/5 - A definate Must have!

Throw that broken hold open rod in the trash. I had no problems with the brackets. Mounted easily in both NA and SC cars.

Super strong and clean! It's nice not having to fiddle with an engine prop (or my case, a lack of one) anymore! Install was really straight forward also. It's a great price too. Recommended to anyone wanting to show off their engine bay or just want a solution to hold up the lid while working in the area.

Good Price for an extremely handy item. Easy to Install and I love the convenience of this prop compared the stock one, which is usually stored behind the seat or in the trunk.

Very good buy. Not sure if my car ever had one, but this works great. Good angle and strength. Make sure you read the directions really well - I put it in upside-down the first time.

Amazing product!, I lost my normal enginen lid support and bought this one. Easiest install I have ever done to the MK1. The lower bracket needs to be tilted a little bit towards yourself to fit with the Prop. Highly Recomended.

I just installed it on my 89 SC due to the original prop falling out somewhere. I have to agree that if you plan on spending any time under the engine lid this is a must have. It sits out of the way, yet supports the lid very well. I had an issue however. My lid does not open or close well now that I have it installed. I tried adjusting the position of the release mechanism for the lid, but still can't get it to work like it did before I installed the gas charged prop. Regardless of that small inconvenience, I'm happy with the purchase. Thank you for making this product available.

Just get it already, you know you want one. Seriously though this prop is stupid easy to install, looks great, everything you need is included and if you're like me it is so much nicer than that screwdriver you've been using. I highly recommend it

As said before installation is easy. 10mm ratchet knocks this out quick. Recommended buy.

It's a cinch to install and convenient to use. I agree with a previous reviewer that the operation of the lid changes after installation. The change is not too bothersome, however, since the lid now seems to open with less effort. I'll take the new prop over the old one any day!

Works great after install however I'd recommend shipping with two washers rather than 1. The nut that is shipped is designed to deform and lock to the bolt but this made tightening it down very difficult and since only one washer was provided the nut actually ended up forcing itself through the hole. I ended up purchasing my own hardware including a slightly thicker and shorter bolt, two larger washers, and a normal nut, then using some blue threadllocker I had in place of the locking nut. Hopefully it should be an adequate substitute but I kind of wish the hardware included this minus the threadllocker to begin with. Great, inexpensive, and easy to install improvement to the broken off prop rod still.
