Guides replace the ones that are in the A and B pillar of the car where the top pins enter the body. By offsetting the hole in the guide, you pull the top down tighter against the seals - this alone can cure most top leaks.
Includes two eccentric guides - enough to do one T-Top panel. Simply pop the old guide out with a straight blade screwdriver and pop the new one in!
Popped the new ones in, already can feel how stiff the top is pushed against the weather strips, washed car with hose soaking the previous leaky area, after 2-3mins of soaking the top, no signs of even 1 water droplet!
These guides were the ticket to fixing the annoying driver's side corner leak on my 91 MR2T. Saved me a boatload over buying new seals! :D If even after you install these guides you're still seeing leaks, you can also adjust the angle of the latching pin on both sides of the t-top. It involves disassembling the t-top latch and cover, but once apart, you'll see where you can adjust the angle at which the 2 chrome pins come out. Adjust them accordingly to provide an even tighter fit and if your seals are in any decent shape, it should resolve the leaks.
Pop these babies in and VIOLA !! 11 year old T Top leak at the rear corner of the passenger top in my '92 NA disappears. These eccentric guides are outstanding!!
I have an AW11 with T-Tops that would leak in the rain, so I tried these guides. I installed them so the hole of the guide is on the bottom and facing the inside of the car. They seem to have fixed the leak. I ran a steady stream of water directed at the roof, and no leaks! While I replaced my old guides I went ahead and clean and lubed my weather seals with GM Super Lube. GM Part no.12346241. Keep in mind, that you should be lubricating your weather seals as regular maintenance for any car. A dried out seal will certainly leak. The Super Lube works great for me, but I've heard of Honda Shin Etsu grease (which Twos R Us sell) working, but have not tried it. Anyway, if your T-Tops leak, try lubing them and using these guides. At $7 a set, why not try it? Remember to order two sets, as there are four T-Top guides to a car.
Prefect fit, easy to remove the old and install the new. Definitely brings the t-tops closer to the seals and at least gives me more confidence that they'll seal. I used the Shin Etsu grease to revive the seals and it helped as well. But, turns out my leak is caused by a misaligned passenger power window, so my search for a fix continues. Definitely worth a shot if your tops leak - well made, snaps right in and definitely makes a difference in how "engaged" the t-tops feel. Very fast shipping!
Worked for me! It was a hassle to wash my car because water would always run in the windows and onto my seats. I installed these in less than 5 minutes, held a water hose over the roof, and there wasn't one drop in the interior. Saved a bunch of money not having to buy new weather stripping. Thanks for the product!
If there was a selection for great, i would have selected it over good. I can't believe that is all it took to get rid of years of wind noise, creaking over bumps, and rain leaks. Worth every penny. A definite must if you have a T-top. Mr. 2.
AWESOME!! Both my t-tops leaked BAD both in rain and in the wash. After these they don't leak AT ALL! Best $14 I spent on the car!
pop the old ones out pop the new ones in, leak goes away amazing!!! so much better than replacing the weatherstrips. Quick shipping to!!!! Thanks guys!
Got these in the mail yesterday. Install took 5 minutes for both sides and is extremely easy. The guides completely stopped the leaks. Must have for anyone with a T-Top MK1 or if you just purchased one like me. I have a '89 Supercharged. Overall amazing product. Thanks!
My car just sat all day in hosing rain, and believe me it knows how to rain in Sydney. Not a drop inside with these fitted; normally both seats would have been squelching so much water used to come in. Total bargain!
shipped super fast and working like a charm to keep le agua out of my car. 5/5 no problem even used the grease to keep a noice seal.
These worked for me. Cheaper than replacing the seals!
Still leaked after using this, so didn't work for me. This DIY had better results. At least the dripping only happens during heavy showers. http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2-knowledge-base/mr2-mk2.html?kbartid=207
This item did not work on my 87 AW11. Still leaking.
Didn't work for me unfortunately. Still worth trying for the price.
Worth trying at the price... I was in the eye of Hurricane Sandy and so it rained two-three days straight, and leaky t-tops didn't make for an easier time dealing with everything. It was so wet inside. I bought these afterwards and for the next month I had awesome results; no seen water leaking through. However...after a month (I'm not sure it rained more or what) I started seeing water come in once again. It's not as bad but it is unfortunate as I'm going to have to look for alternative ways to stop the leaking. So to sum up: PROS: Cheap Easy To Install Helps keep water out CONS: Isn't a miracle worker...so don't bank on it saving you all the troubles
